If you run an outdoor business such as an outdoor restaurant, mosquitoes can ruin the experience for your customers. Viking Pest offers commercial mosquito control to ensure your outdoor space is comfortable.
What Are Mosquitoes?
Mosquitoes comprise of about 3,500 species of small insects. Generally, they have a slender segmented body, three pairs of long legs, one pair of wings, and an elongated, sharp proboscis. Male mosquitoes are known to only feed on nectar, while their female counterparts also feed on blood to produce healthy eggs. They find their blood hosts via body odor, heat, and exhaled carbon dioxide. Besides their itchy, irritating bites that may transmit potentially deadly diseases, they also have a persistent, whiny “hum” that can make it impossible to sleep or concentrate on other activities.
When Are Mosquitoes Most Active?
Mosquitoes thrive in hot weather. Their activity will begin when temperatures hit 50°F and peak during the hot summer months. Most mosquito species tend to bite during dusk and dawn. However, there are other species that bite during daylight hours or whenever they get the chance. Mosquitoes can be found both indoors and outdoors. You can help protect your indoor space by using protective screens on windows and doors.
